Clarkstown was first a Town in Orange County before it became a Town in Rockland County, and was formed in 1798.  Our government seat is New City (which also governs all of Rockland County)

Alexander J. Gromack is the Chief Executive of Clarkstown.  This is an elected position.
Our History goes all the way back to 1791.  George Washington was President then.  However,
prior to Rockland County being formed, Clarkstown was part of Orange County.  Rockland County was
not created until 1798.

Clarkstown's thriving community atmosphere includes Libraries, Emergency Services, Beautification Programs, Parks's and Sanitation Commissions, Planning Boards, Traffic Safety, and Zoning Boards just to name a few.
